Effigy

My dear effigy
How I love thee
That smile as I draw a breath and wait for a reply
And as I turn my back I ask myself why

My dear effigy
That leaden gaze
Eyes like tiny marbles that show nothing of what’s inside
Only the fa├žade and ruby lips of secrets that you hide

Effigy… effigy… effigy why do you lie to me?
I’m only trying to talk to you
Why do I even try at all?

My dear effigy
With frozen eyes
Porcelain hands; no tears to cry
You face is so dry.

Oh fake woman
Your smile smiles lifeless feeling dull destroyed dead
Why am I weeping?
